rglastic
is made from the by-products of renewable resources
such as plants, grain husks, coffee bean etc. It
has excellent mechanical characteristic and the performance
is similar to application of PVC, PTE, ABS and PP.
When finished with, Orglastic can be crushed,
breaking the protective glaze and then placed on
a compost heap where they will decompose in 9 -
18 months. With respect to biodegradability, the
material deteriorates in the presence of water
and bacteria found in soil breaking the bonds of
fibrous plants materials. Higher moisture and temperature
accelerates the rate of deterioration.
The decomposed material ingredients become nutrients
which revitalise the soil. In a dark, humid environment
such as found in a landfill or composting bin,
the structure will naturally biodegrade in less
than three months.
The material is durable in climate from freezing
temperature up to 50 degree Celsius. When placed
in boiling water for 10 – 15 minutes, a finished
product will degrade into its components ingredients.
